I cannot proceed with clipping your knotty or matted dog until this waiver is signed and submitted, thank you

MATTING AND PELTING RELEASE WAIVER

Please be aware that:

  • Shave patches or a shave down is the very last thing I want to have to do to your dog today

  • Shaving off a matted/pelted coat is extremely dangerous and not part of my job description

  • Removing the matted coat from where it has been pulling and constricting the skin may cause intense clipper rash, tingling and/or itching.  It is your responsibility to monitor and medically treat this, should problems arise

  • Freshly cut nails are sharp and that excessive scratching may cause injuries which may bleed

  • Although I will do everything in my power to avoid injury, the chances of injury are greatly increased when a pet is matted or pelted.  Should the skin be nicked, cut or have clipper rash due to the condition of the coat, I will treat them with topical antibiotics at the salon and any follow up treatment must be attended to at home

  • If your dog’s ears are badly matted, the chances of them experiencing a hematoma are greatly increased.  Ear matts restrict the blood flow to the ear, removing ear matting causes the blood to suddenly and quickly flow throughout the ear again.  This trauma can cause a hematoma.  A hematoma develops after a blood vessel breaks. The blood oozes out of the broken vessel and pools in the ear, leading to swelling.  This can occur minutes or hours after the initial groom and can be triggered through the shaking, rubbing or scratching of the ears.  These actions can, in turn, cause the hematoma to burst and bleed through the skin.  If this occurs at the salon, I will ring you to inform you so you are aware a vet visit may be necessary after picking up your dog.  If your dog shows prolonged, excessive head shaking after the groom at home, consider vet treatment to avoid any further issues caused from the shaking

  • Matted, pelted coats may harbour lice, mites, fleas or maggots that can only be detected once we begin to remove the coat.  Should any serious parasites be discovered on your dog, the groom will stop immediately

Customer declaration:

I understand that because of the condition of my dog’s coat today, I have left Ellen’s Dog Studio no option other than to shave out the matts or shave the coat completely off.  I acknowledge that no one can know what conditions may be under the matted fur, nor will I endeavour to hold anyone else responsible.

I will not publicly attack or criticise Ellen’s Dog Studio (e.g. social media, bad review) if I am not happy with the clip as I am aware my dog’s coat condition is entirely my responsibility and my groomer can only do so much with the condition of the coat I have presented her with today.

By signing this waiver I acknowledge:

  • That Ellen’s Dog Studio is not responsible should any of the above occur

  • Full responsibility for all of the above

Thank you, we have received your signed waiver
